Biography In a small town of Benton Harbor Michigan a boy named David Dortch was born. Growing up being the fifth child was very difficult for David since his other brothers seem to take all the attention. As David become older he developed this competitive edge that he learned by hanging around his older brothers. Still at a young age he began to play sports starting out in baseball but basketball and football soon followed. As David continued to grow his skill would finally catch up with him and became a small household name in his school but still lay tormented in his brothers shadow. As a freshman in high school David still had this to live up the Dortch name after a year of constant pressure. David had surpassed his brothers in Sports of football and basketball and still wanted to be pushed as an individual. Before the beginning of his sophomore year in high school David had moved to West Ottawa high school, which was bigger in size and in rank. After making the team with ease David was reborn into this individual that was having more fun than before in sports. Laughing and scoring points made everyone happy and people started to fill the seats not only because the team was winning but also this unknown kid from Benton Harbor was entertaining people in the crowd. The cheers would finally end when David broke his wrist before his senior year of high school over the summer playing basketball in Indiana at Tri State University. He couldn’t shoot the same, dribble, nor pass as well. The cheers turned into boos and what was supposed to be the best year of his life turned into a nightmare. After Graduation David received a partial scholarship to attend the University of Arkansas At Little Rock. Deciding to major is business David started to take classes toward his major. One semester didn’t offer enough class in business so as a last minute decision decided to take an acting class and from then on caught the acting bug. Instead of doing what everyone else and just act David decided to learn behind the scenes first dealing with directing, producing, writing and a little digital imaging on the side. Never losing his acting bug continued to take classes and doing classroom skits to keep refining his craft. He decided to take this route to understand what was needed of him to help others succeed as well as him self. He directed, produced, wrote and starred in this first film called the forgotten key. The film started showing on the college channel and Comcast offered to put it on cable late night. Once this began he knew his calling was to be the best versatile actor that he could offer to Hollywood. Now living in the movie capital of the world and with a four-year degree David Dortch still strives with the same determination and heart as once he first started. David is still taking classes as well as an active member of different organizations to help further his career along. Having fun and loving what he does which is to entertain people in different ways possible. A famous person once said, “If you want something done you have to do it your self” David Dortch has taken this philosophy applied it to his life and redefined what is known as a hard workingman with a dream.
